But Benfold didn’t reveal the whole truth to Huntington. Lilith had initiated a plan to return home, directly involving Benfold. What Huntington ignored was that Lilith and Benfold were old friends. Their friendship dated back to the time when Gorga had not been exploited by bird men.

Returning to the facilities that Huntington had built with great effort, the lights, bright at certain times and dim at others, accompanied the beings of the animalarium. Thus, by means of a code inserted in the beams of light, they were programmed to perform certain actions or develop abilities such as speech or telepathy.

When Huntington learned of the existence of small beings, he did not lose an instant to begin his search. He was a systematic man and began his inquiries through the garden.
